MANKATO, Minn. – Junior
Lucas Kramarczuk broke the school record in the 60-meter hurdles to headline the St. Olaf College men's track and field team's performances at the season-opening Chuck Petersen Open on Saturday at Myers Field House.
Kramarczuk clocked in at 8.38 seconds in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles to break the previous school record set by Aaron Dunphy in 2015. The time was good for fourth in the event behind a pair of competitors from NCAA Division II Minnesota State and an unattached competitor and is fourth-best NCAA Division III this season.
In addition to Kramarczuk's school-record performance, senior
Stephen Peper and junior
Logan Bocovich logged event wins in the high jump and 5,000-meter run, respectively, to help the Oles to third in the team standings. St. Olaf compiled 52 points in the meet, trailing NCAA Division II programs Minnesota State (216) and Concordia-St. Paul (98).
The meet was the first full-team indoor meet for the Oles in 644 days since the final day of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 29, 2020.
Peper won the high jump by clearing 2.03 meters (6' 8") on his second attempt to establish a new indoor personal-best result. The clearance bettered his previous-best height as he remains seventh on St. Olaf's all-time list in the event. The height also ranks third in the country this season.
Bocovich led three Oles who scored in the 5,000-meter run by crossing the line first in a personal-best time of 15:02.50, which ranks fourth nationally. The time was nearly 23 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Calvin Boone of St. Scholastica. Junior
