NORTHFIELD, Minn. – In its first indoor meet as a full team in nearly two years, the St. Olaf College women's track and field team won six events and had six runner-up showings at the Ole Opener on Friday evening at the Tostrud Center.
St. Olaf won four events on the track and a pair of field events in its first home indoor meet since Feb. 21, 2020. The Oles also had two student-athletes break into the program's all-time top-10 list and one more improve her standing on the list.
Junior
Annika Muller won the triple jump with a mark of 10.56 meters (34' 7 ¾") and also moved into St. Olaf's all-time list in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.35 seconds in the prelims. Muller's time in the prelims was one one-hundredth of a second behind that of sophomore
Karla Kroschel, who moved into eighth on the Oles' list with her prelims time of 8.35 seconds before finishing third (8.37).
Kroschel also won the 200-meter dash in 27.45 seconds, leading a group of five St. Olaf runners who made up the top-five finishers in the event. First year
Emma Storbakken was the runner-up to Kroschel in 28.50 seconds. Similarly, sophomore
Ali Seaton paced a group of Oles who finished 1-6 in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:13.24, finishing roughly two seconds ahead of classmate
Katie Gebert.
Storbakken and Kroschel made up half of St. Olaf's first-place 4x400-meter relay, teaming up with sophomore
Ququ Holman and first year
Emma Sahly to finish over six seconds ahead of the top Carleton relay in 4:17.33.
Junior
Rebekah Salfer won the 60-meter hurdles by nearly a second with a time of 9.49 seconds, while sophomore
Aleah Keske had the top throw in the shot put with a mark of 10.09 meters (33' 1 ¾"). Keske also broke into St. Olaf's all-time top-10 list in the weight throw with a toss of 11.97 meters (39' 3 ¼").
The Oles also got runner-up finishes from sophomore
Bella Call in the mile (5:29.15), first year
Jane Bruenjes in the 3,000-meter run (10:30.66) and first year
Luise Hammer in the long jump (4.96m, 16' 3 ¼").
St. Olaf is scheduled to compete at the Carleton Triangular on Friday, Jan. 21 at 6 p.m. Per Carleton campus policy, no spectators are permitted to attend the meet.
