NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Senior
Stephen Peper broke the school record in the heptathlon to highlight the St. Olaf College men's track and field team's performances at the St. Olaf Quad & Multi on Friday and Saturday at Tostrud Center.
Peper compiled 4,864 points in the heptathlon to shatter the previous program record of 4,662 points set by Evan Sundquist '05 in 2005. The senior's score also ranks first in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and seventh in NCAA Division III this season, as he set personal bests in the 60-meter dash (7.36), shot put (11.33m), 60-meter hurdles (9.16), pole vault (3.65m), and 1,000-meter run (2:53.28).
Peper also won the long jump (6.70m) and high jump (2.03m), finishing just .01 meters shy of a PR in the long jump and .04 meters shy of a PR in the high jump. His score of 4,864 points was good for second of the 14 competitors in the multi, trailing only Keaton Wood of Linfield, who tallied the nation's fifth-best score this season with 4,959 points.
Sophomore
Demetri Lord and senior
Nick Edwards also turned in top-five program scores in the heptathlon, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively, with 4,510 and 4,492 points. Lord's score of 4,510 points ranks fourth in program history, 14th in the country, and third in the conference this season, as he posted the fifth-fastest 60-meter dash time in program history (7.18) and bettered his third-fastest 60-meter hurdles time (8.58). Edwards' total of 4,492 points ranks fifth in program history, 16th in the country, and fourth in the MIAC this season.
On Friday evening, St. Olaf got event wins from senior
Luke Malek in the 800-meter run (2:00.13) and first year
Dylan Arnold in the pole vault (4.57m, 15') at the unscored meet. Arnold's clearance is the highest in the MIAC this season, ranks tied for fifth in program history, and is 23rd nationally, while Malek's time is third in the conference.

Duncan Forbes,
Tyler Gunderson,
Devin McNearny, and
Daniel Nichols also posted a first-place finish in 1:39.25 for St. Olaf's third event win of the meet.
Junior
Andrew Mollison and senior
Aengus White finished second and third, respectively, in the shot put. Mollison's throw of 14.16 meters (46' 5 ½") ranks third in the MIAC and 10th in program history, while White's throw of 13.91 meters (45' 7 ¾") was a personal best and is fifth in the conference.
St. Olaf heads to Minneapolis for the Gopher Classic on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 11 a.m.
