Embry, Thrower picked to D3football.com Team of the Week

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Senior running back Jordan Embry and junior defensive back Mark Thrower of the St. Olaf College football team were named to the D3football.com Team of the Week on Tuesday morning.

Embry and Thrower became the third set of St. Olaf teammates selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week in the same week following their standout performances in the Oles' 33-28 victory at the College of St. Scholastica on Saturday afternoon. St. Olaf has now had 17 selections to the national honor roll, which honors the top performers at each position from the previous week.

The honor came a day after Embry was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week and Thrower was tabbed the MIAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week. Tuesday's announcement marked the second time this season Thrower has been included on the D3football.com Team of the Week, while Embry was honored for the first time in his career.

Embry was one of two running backs on the D3football.com Team of the Week after carrying the ball 51 times for 270 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winning score with 21.7 seconds remaining, on Saturday. The senior's 51 rushing attempts are the most at any level of the NCAA this season and set a new program record, while his 270 rushing yards rank second all-time at St. Olaf and are seventh-most in a single game by an NCAA Division III rusher this season. Embry accounted for all 70 of the Oles' yards on the late game-winning touchdown drive, carrying the ball 11 times on the 12-play drive.

Thrower's play on special teams that led to a pair of touchdowns landed him the lone special teams spot on the national honor roll. The junior blocked a second-quarter punt that ended up netting just four yards to set up St. Olaf at the 30-yard line, leading to a touchdown, before recovering a punt in the end zone early in the third quarter for the first touchdown of his collegiate career.

St. Olaf is back on the road on Saturday, Oct. 29 for a visit to nationally-ranked Bethel University at 1 p.m.
