Rodriguez chosen as MIAC Defensive Player of the Week for sixth time

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Senior Selena Rodriguez of the St. Olaf College volleyball team received her third Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week accolade of the season on Monday afternoon.

Rodriguez was recognized by the conference office for the sixth time in her career after recording 68 digs (6.80 per set) for St. Olaf in a 2-1 week that earned the Oles the No. 2 seed in this week's MIAC Playoffs. The St. Paul native's three MIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honors this season are tied for the most of any student-athlete in the conference along with Maren Sundberg of Gustavus Adolphus College.

The senior started the week with 17 digs and six assists in a three-set non-conference loss at UW-River Falls on Wednesday before recording 22 digs to go with two assists and two aces in Friday night's home sweep of Saint Mary's. Rodriguez closed out the regular season with 29 digs and seven assists in a four-set victory at Carleton on Saturday that earned the Oles the No. 2 seed and a bye into the semifinals.

St. Olaf hosts the winner of Tuesday's quarterfinal between No. 6 seed Augsburg University and No. 3 seed St. Catherine University in the semifinals at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3 at Skoglund Center.
