MANKATO, Minn. – The St. Olaf College men's track and field team got runner-up finishes from junior
Arne Ellefson-Carnes in the 5,000-meter run and junior
Sean Souksavath in the triple jump on its way to a fifth-place finish at the NSIC & Friends Indoor Challenge on Saturday at Myers Field House.
Ellefson-Carnes was second in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:34.71, trailing only Ray Ure of host Minnesota State University in the field of seven runners, while Souksavath finished behind only Isaiah Nelson of Southwest Minnesota State University in the triple jump with a mark of 12.95 meters (42' 6"). Souksavath's mark ranks eighth in the conference this season.
First year
Trevor Christensen was the top NCAA Division III finisher in the weight throw and broke into St. Olaf's top-10 list in the event with a throw of 14.84 meters (48' 8 ¼"). The throw ranks ninth in program history as Christensen was 14th in the event.
Two Oles added fifth-place finishes in the meet, as first year
Dylan Arnold was fifth in the pole vault after clearing 4.36 meters (14' 3 ½") and classmate
Henry Kraatz was fifth in the 1,000-meter run (2:38.70).
St. Olaf hosts the Tostrud Classic on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 11 a.m. at Tostrud Center.
