Muller breaks school triple jump record again in Mankato

MANKATO, Minn. – Junior Annika Muller broke the school record in the triple jump for the second time this season as the St. Olaf College women's track and field team finished fifth at the NSIC & Friends Indoor Challenge on Saturday at Myers Field House.

After setting the school record with a jump of 11.17 meters (36' 7 ¾") at the Carleton Triangular on Jan. 21, Muller re-broke the record on Saturday with a mark of 11.30 meters (37' 1"), which is also the best mark in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this season. The jump was good for fourth in the field – behind three NCAA Division II competitors – and ranks 31st in NCAA Division III this season.

Senior Ellen Mickelson turned in one of the top performances in the country in the mile this season, winning the event in 4:59.76 to become the fifth student-athlete in program history to log a sub-five-minute mile in competition. The time currently ranks third in the conference and ninth in the country.

First years Sofia Carlson and Alison Bode went 1-2 in the 5,000-meter run and both posted top-six times in program history in the event. Carlson won the event in 17:58.25 and Bode wasn't far behind in 18:03.47. Those times ranks fifth and sixth in program history, third and fourth in the MIAC, and are both in the top 50 nationally.

Sophomore Aleah Keske moved up two spots from sixth to fourth on St. Olaf's all-time list in the shot put with a throw of 12.69 meters (41' 7 ¾"), which was good for sixth in the meet and fifth in the MIAC this season.

Similarly, junior Teresa Pettitt-Kenney rose two spots from sixth to fourth in program history in the pole vault by clearing 3.24 meters (10' 7 ½") to finish eighth on the day. That clearance ranks fourth in the conference.

St. Olaf hosts the St. Olaf Women's Invitational on Friday, Feb. 18 at Tostrud Center.
