Treanor qualifies for NCAA Diving Regionals, swimmers compete at Minnesota Challenge

NORTHFIELD/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Sophomore Izzy Treanor qualified for the NCAA Regional Diving Championships by meeting her second NCAA standard of the season as the St. Olaf College men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at the Dodd Road Diving Invitational and Minnesota Challenge this weekend.

After meeting her first standard on the one-meter board and being named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete last week, Treanor scored a 435.80 on 11 one-meter dives to exceed the standard of 395 for the second time and book her spot at regionals in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Feb. 25-26.

Classmate Hannah Richey met her first one-meter, 11-dive standard of the season with a score of 398.50 and needs one more standard to join Treanor at regionals. Treanor's score was the best of the day, while Richey was sixth.

Senior Harris Kramer finished third in the men's one-meter, 11-dive session with a score of 397.15, while sophomore Oscar Hanifl was seventh (374.70).

While the divers were in action across town at Carleton, St. Olaf's swimmers competed at the Minnesota Challenge against competition from all three NCAA divisions in the Oles' final preparations for the upcoming Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Championships.

St. Olaf had eight top-10 finishes over the two-day meet, led by junior Tim Rizzo's fourth-place showing in the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.76). He also placed 10th in the 100-yard butterfly (53.55), while first year Avery Nevins added a ninth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (56.77).

Senior Maya Knutson posted the top finishes of the weekend for the Ole women, placing sixth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.11) and tying for sixth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.18). Both finishes were second among NCAA Division III competitors.

St. Olaf's other three top-10 performances came from senior Sophia Nevin in the 200-yard individual medley (eighth, 2:22.20), junior Emily Pelszynski in the 200-yard backstroke (ninth, 2:23.65), and junior Annika Cleven in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.06).

The four-day MIAC Championships begin on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at the University of Minnesota's Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
