Muller wins long jump to highlight Tomcat Twilight for women's track and field

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Junior Annika Muller won the long jump for the second meet in a row to start the season and first years Alison Bode and Sofia Carlson posted top-30 national performances in the 5,000-meter run, as the St. Olaf College women's track and field team was in action at the unscored Tomcat Twilight on Wednesday at O'Shaughnessy Stadium.

Muller made it two wins in as many meets in the long jump by tying for the best jump of the day with Maggie Olejnik of St. Thomas with a mark of 5.32 meters (17' 5 ½") on her first attempt. The junior's win was the lone first-place finish on the day for St. Olaf in a meet that included competitors from all three divisions of the NCAA.

In addition to winning the long jump, Muller was the runner-up in the triple jump with a mark of 11.06 meters (36' 3 ½") for one of two second-place finishes for the Oles. Junior Christine Albrecht was also the second-place finisher in the 1,500-meter run, clocking in at 4:45.64 to post the fifth-fastest time in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this season in the first 1,500-meter race of her collegiate career.

St. Olaf had the top-four NCAA Division III finishers in the 5,000-meter run, led by third- and fourth-place finishes from Bode and Carlson, who both recorded top-30 national times and broke onto St. Olaf's all-time top-10 list in the event. Bode was the top NCAA Division III finisher in third place in 17:31.38, which ranks third in the MIAC, 26th in the country, and sixth in program history, while Carlson was fourth overall in 17:38.18, which ranks fourth in the conference, 28th in the country, and eighth in program history.

Junior Teresa Pettitt-Kenney registered the MIAC's second-best clearance in the pole vault by clearing 3.30 meters (10' 10"), bettering her own fifth-best clearance in program history in the process. Sophomore Melanie Roberts moved up one spot on St. Olaf's all-time list in the event by clearing 3.15 meters (10' 4"), moving up from eighth to seventh.

Sophomore Katie Gebert led three Oles in the top six in the 1,500-meter run by placing fourth in 4:50.27, which ranks seventh in the MIAC. Classmate Ainslee Parker added a fifth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 10.62 meters (34' 1 ¼") to move into sole possession of ninth on St. Olaf's all-time list in the event.

Junior Rebekah Salfer was the top NCAA Division III finisher in the 400-meter hurdles, placing sixth in 1:09.08, which is the third-fastest time in the conference this spring.

St. Olaf competes at Concordia-St. Paul's Holst Invitational on Saturday, April 23.
