NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The St. Olaf College men's and women's swimming and diving teams both defeated Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) foe Macalester College in their conference dual meet on Saturday at Skoglund Natatorium.
The St. Olaf men won 12 of the 16 events to pick up a 180-103 victory, while the women picked up nine event wins in a 166-134 triumph. The two victories extended both programs' lengthy winning streaks in the series between the two schools, as the Oles have not lost a dual meet to the Scots under 34th-year head coach
Bob Hauck.
Senior
Tim Rizzo accounted for three individual first-place finishes for the Oles, winning the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.62), 500-yard freestyle (4:50.29), and 400-yard individual medley (4:18.41). Rizzo also swam on St. Olaf's victorious 200-yard medley relay (1:38.97) along with junior

Daniel Bloedow swept the two butterfly events, touching the wall first in the 100-yard butterfly (54.52) and 200-yard butterfly (2:03.88). Other event winners for St. Olaf were sophomore

Philip McLaughlin joined Starcevich, Chant, and Hauck on the winning 400-yard freestyle relay (3:18.49).

Paige Steenblock were double event-winners for the St. Olaf women. Richey won both sessions of the one-meter diving with scores of 161.75 and 235.60, while Steenblock was the first to touch in the 200-yard butterfly (2:14.85) and 400-yard individual medley (4:41.67).

Annika Cleven added individual event victories, in addition to two first-place relays for St. Olaf. Varley won the 100-yard freestyle (56.05) by four-tenths of a second, Cucchiaro claimed the 500-yard freestyle (5:27.25) by nearly three seconds, and Cleven grabbed a two-plus second win in the 100-yard butterfly (59.80).

Allison Purdum were part of both first-place relays for the Oles, as the trio was joined by Varley on the 200-yard medley relay (1:52.34) and Cucchiaro on the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:44.47).
St. Olaf heads across town for its annual joint Senior Day meet with Carleton College on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. at Thorpe Pool.
