ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Senior
Christine Albrecht ran a top-20 national time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to lead the St. Olaf College women's track and field team's performances at the inaugural Bethel Invitational at a rainy Royal Stadium on Saturday.
Albrecht was the runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase – to an unattached runner from the University of Minnesota – by clocking in at 11:00.02, which ranks 16th in NCAA Division III this season and was an improvement of over 38 seconds from her previous personal-best time. The time is also the top time in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) to date and ranks second on St. Olaf's all-time top-10 list.
Albrecht's performance was one of four second-place finishes for St. Olaf at the unscored meet. Junior
Aleah Keske accounted for two of the other three with runner-up finishes in the discus throw (37.61m, 123' 4") and the shot put (11.66m, 38' 3 ¼"), while also rising to third on the program's top-10 list in the hammer throw (6th, 41.17m, 135' 1").
