COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The St. Olaf College women's swimming and diving team topped the College of Saint Benedict and St. Catherine University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) double dual, while the men's team fell to Saint John's on Saturday at Warner Palaestra Pool.
The St. Olaf women won eight events while defeating St. Kate's by a 196-102 margin and Saint Ben's by a 180-120 score. On the men's side, the Oles had three first-place finishes in a 192-102 loss to the Johnnies.

Zibby Hanifl, first year
Olivia Small, sophomore
Katie Homme, and junior
Paige Steenblock were all part of two first-place finishes on the day for the Oles, with Hanifl and Steenblock winning two individual events. Hanifl posted the top scores of the day in the three-meter diving (201.40) and one-meter diving (197.95).
Steenblock swam to victories in the 500-yard freestyle (5:36.26) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:18.67), while Small and Homme both picked up an individual event win and swam on St. Olaf's first-place 200-yard medley relay (1:52.66), along with sophomore
Alana Schmitzer and senior
Ellen Varley. Small touched the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke (59.84) and Homme as first in the 100-yard freestyle (55.59). First year
McKenna Hultgren added a first-place swim in the 100-yard butterfly.
Junior
Aiden Yung recorded two of St. Olaf's three first-place performances against Saint John's, winning the 200-yard breaststroke (2:16.99) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:04.02). First year
Daniel Cameron was the other event winner in the 200-yard butterfly (2:03.31).
The Oles will head to Gustavus Adolphus College for another MIAC dual on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m.
