Call, Walda crack top-10 3K list at Carleton's Meet of Hearts

MANKATO/NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Five members of the St. Olaf College women's track and field team ran in the 3,000-meter run at Carleton College's Meet of Hearts, while sophomore Ashlyn Jore took part in the long jump at Minnesota State University's Maverick Premier Meet #2 on Saturday.

Senior Bella Call and sophomore Lauren Walda both cracked St. Olaf's all-time top-10 list in the 3,000-meter run at Carleton, leading the quintet of Oles running in the event. Call led the way with a fifth-place finish in 10:07.01, which ranks sixth in program history, while Walda was less than two seconds behind in sixth in 10:08.50. Walda's time put her in a tie with junior Alison Bode, who was eighth on the day in 10:26.59, for eighth on St. Olaf's list.

As the lone NCAA Division III competitor in the event, Jore finished fourth in the long jump down in Mankato with a mark of 5.41 meters (17' 9") in the fourth round to finish just two centimeters shy of her personal-best mark that ranks fourth on St. Olaf's all-time list.

St. Olaf hosts the Tostrud Classic on Saturday, Feb. 17 in its final meet before the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Indoor Championships come to campus from Feb. 22-24.
