DECORAH, Iowa – The St. Olaf College women's swimming and diving team swept Luther College and Loras College, while the men's team topped the Duhawks and fell to the Norse in a non-conference double dual on Saturday at Luther Aquatics Center.
Behind 11 first-place finishes, the St. Olaf women claimed a 176-123 win over Luther and a 217-68 victory over Loras. The Ole men won five events while easing to a 199-46 victory against Loras and falling to Luther by a 181-104 margin.
Sophomore
Samantha Sylvester and first year
Olivia Small were both part of four first-place swims for St. Olaf, with Sylvester winning three individual events and Small two. First year
McKenna Hultgren also won two individual events for the women, while junior
Nick Starcevich added a pair of individual first-place finishes and was part of a relay win for the men.
Sylvester was the first to touch the wall in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.29), 200-yard breaststroke (2:39.30), and 200-yard individual medley (2:18.55) for St. Olaf. Small swept the titles in the 100-yard backstroke (59.46) and 200-yard backstroke (2:10.77), while Hultgren did so in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.03) and 200-yard butterfly (2:15.78).
Small swam on St. Olaf's first-place 200-yard medley relay (1:50.91) and 200-yard freestyle relay (1:43.11), with Sylvester being part of the former as well. Senior

Katie Homme were also part of both winning relays, with Homme adding a first-place showing in the 50-yard freestyle (24.94) as well. First year
McKelvey McDaniel was also an individual victor for the Oles in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:20.77).
Starcevich sprinted to wins in the 50-yard freestyle (21.80) and 100-yard freestyle (47.39) and was part of St. Olaf's first-place 200-yard freestyle relay, along with sophomore
Jack Homme, first year
Travis Elling, and fifth-year senior
Marcus Hauck. First years
Daniel Cameron and
Travis Elling logged victories in the 200-yard butterfly (2:03.49) and 500-yard freestyle (5:04.59), respectively.
St. Olaf will take on Carleton College in its final Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) dual meet of the season on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 11 a.m. at Carleton's Thorpe Pool.
