ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Sophomore
Amae Kam-Magruder represented the St. Olaf College women's Nordic skiing team in the U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships held Thursday through Tuesday at Kincaid Park.
Kam-Magruder competed among the top cross country skiers in the country in four disciplines during the event in her hometown while also representing her club team, the Alaska Winter Stars.
To start the week, Kam-Magruder placed 78th overall – and 11th in the U20 women category – in the 10K Individual Start (28:08.3) on Thursday. After a day off, she followed that up by finishing 110th overall – 20th in U20 women – in the Classic Sprint with a time of 4:10.85 in the qualifier on Saturday.
On Sunday, Kam-Magruder competed in the U20 Classic Mass Start and took 28th (33:14.0). The sophomore wrapped up the event with a 70th-place performance in the 1.4K Freestyle Sprint Qualifier (3:50.80). That time was 24th in the U20 women division and earned Kam-Magruder a spot in the quarterfinals, where she took fifth in the second heat (3:49.52).
St. Olaf will be back in action as a team at the Pre-Loppet at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis on Sunday, Jan. 12.
