LEXINGTON, Ky. – The St. Olaf College volleyball team continued to receive votes in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA)/Taraflex Division III Women's Volleyball Poll, as released on Tuesday afternoon.
After extending its winning streak to six matches with back-to-back Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) victories last week, St. Olaf (10-6) collected votes in the national poll for the second week in a row. The Oles opened conference play with a sweep of Carleton College on Wednesday before picking up a four-set road victory over Bethel University on Friday.
Of St. Olaf's six losses this season, four have come to teams ranked in the top 25 nationally this week – No. 1 La Verne, No. 17 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, No. 23 Dubuque (twice) – and five have come versus teams ranked or receiving votes. The Oles also have a win over this week's No. 4-ranked team – UW-Whitewater – when the Warhawks were the top-ranked team in the country on Sept. 20.
This weekend, St. Olaf will head to Concordia-Moorhead for a 6 p.m. match on Friday, Oct. 3 before hosting Nebraska Wesleyan University (1 p.m.) and UW-La Crosse (5 p.m.) the following day for a tri-match.
