BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Sophomore
Max Albertson of the St. Olaf College men's track and field team was chosen as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, as announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Albertson earned the first MIAC Athlete of the Week accolade of his career following his performances in the long jump and triple jump at Saturday's Maverick Premier #2. The sophomore is the second Ole to land one of the two MIAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week accolade this season, joining junior
Ignatius Fitzgerald, who picked up the track accolade on Dec. 10.
On Saturday, Albertson recorded the MIAC's top mark in the long jump this season with a jump of 7.08 meters (23' 2 ¾") down in Mankato. The sophomore moved up to second on St. Olaf's all-time list in the event with the mark, which ranks 26th in NCAA Division III this season. Albertson also won the triple jump at the meet with a distance of 13.18 meters (43' 3").
St. Olaf will host the Tostrud Classic on Friday, Feb. 21, with field events starting at 5 p.m. and track events at 6 p.m.
