DULUTH, Minn. – Nine members of the St. Olaf College men's and women's Nordic skiing teams raced at the College of St. Scholastica Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) Invite on Saturday and Sunday at Grand Avenue Nordic Center.
Senior
Lily Hubanks recorded top-six finishes on both days to highlight the two-day competition. Hubanks was one spot off the podium in fourth (22:01.1) in Saturday's 7.5K Classic before placing sixth (1:01.47.8) in Sunday's 20K Freestyle.
Sophomore
Amae Kam-Magruder joined Hubanks in the top 10 on Sunday in 10th (1:03:54.5) after finishing 14th (22:55.6) the day before. First year
Liesl Cope-Schaeffer also logged top-15 finishes on both days, placing 15th (23:08.8) on Saturday and 17th (1:06:49.8) on Sunday. Sophomore
Lily Ward was 21st (1:08:43.5) on day two after taking 27th (24:09.1) to open the weekend, while first year
Annika Fuhrmann was just behind Ward in 28th (24:20.2) in the 7.5K Classic.
First year
Paavo Rova posted the top finishes on both days for the St. Olaf men by recording a 28th-place performance (19:50.7) in the 7.5K Classic and a 24th-place showing (57:20.9) in the 20K Freestyle. Classmate
Daniel Gladkov was 37th (20:44.0) and 30th (59:02.9), respectively, over the two races, while first year
Rudy Herold was 46th (24:01.9) and 41st (1:08:50.4). First year
Lance Hastings took 41st (21:40.9) on Saturday.
The Oles will race at the Vasaloppet USA Ski Races on Saturday, Feb. 8 in Mora.
