BAYFIELD, Wis. – The St. Olaf College men's and women's Nordic skiing teams were in action at the Mt. Ashwabay Skiathlon on Saturday, with the women's team winning the Midwest Collegiate Ski Association (MCSA) team title.
Led by a podium sweep by first year
Louisa Lamarre, first year
Lizzy Weider, and sophomore
Ava Rothe, the St. Olaf women finished atop the five-team MCSA standings with 165 points. Lamarre won the 30-kilometer race in 1:41:29, followed by Weider in second (1:42:42), and Rothe in third (1:44:29), among MCSA skiers. First years
Elsa Bergdahl and
Sophia House were 13th (1:43:48) and 25th (2:05:56), respectively.
Junior
Tait Myers led the St. Olaf men with a sixth-place finish (1:23:38) among MCSA racers. Junior
Liam Caputo Sullivan, senior
Nikolas Stoufis, and first year
Owen Larsen were 24th (1:40:25), 27th (1:43:19), and 28th (1:43:54), respectively. The Oles did no record a team score by virtue of not having the necessary five scorers.
The Oles will race at the Vasaloppet USA Ski Races on Saturday, Feb. 8 in Mora.
