NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Junior
Mason Buck of the St. Olaf College baseball team earned the first D3baseball.com All-Region accolade of his career by being a third-team honoree in Region 9, as the organization released its annual all-region lists on Tuesday.
After his junior season, Buck became the eighth St. Olaf student-athlete to collect D3baseball.com All-Region honors, which were first awarded in the 2013 season. The Oles have now had four all-region selections in the last three seasons after not having an honoree since 2018 prior to 2023.
The D3baseball.com All-Region Teams were compiled from more than 1,000 nominations, which were put on a ballot that was made available to D3baseball.com staff and contributors.
Earlier this month, Buck was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Baseball Max Molock Co-Player of the Year and landed his first All-MIAC accolade after a standout season both offensively and defensively. Buck started all 39 games at shortstop and hit .386 (51-for-132) with nine doubles, two triples, three home runs, 27 RBI, 31 runs scored, 21 walks, and seven stolen bases while posting a .553 slugging percentage and .484 on-base percentage.
Buck was even better defensively, making just one error on 136 chances for a .993 fielding percentage at shortstop. The junior tallied 53 putouts, 82 assists, and was part of 24 double plays during the season, helping St. Olaf to the fifth-highest team fielding percentage (.976) in NCAA Division III entering the 2025 NCAA Division III Baseball World Series.
