KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The St. Olaf College men's soccer program received votes in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Men's Preseason Top 25 Poll, as released on Thursday.
Coming off a 15-4-4 season that culminated in a fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, St. Olaf was one of six programs named in the "also receiving votes" portion of the poll. The top 25 remained unchanged from last season's end-of-season poll.
This season marked the fourth year in a row – and the seventh time in the poll's archives – that St. Olaf received votes or was ranked in the top 25 by the United Soccer Coaches. The Oles have gathered votes in 24 United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Polls since the start of the 2021 season.
Head coach
Justin Oliver's team is slated to return 23 members of last season's team that claimed a share of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) regular-season title, became the first program to three-peat as MIAC Playoff champions, and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. St. Olaf has won at least one game in the national tournament in each of the last four seasons and is 11-1-2 in the field during that span.
The Oles are scheduled to face three teams – No. 12 UW-Superior, No. 14 UW-Platteville, and No. 19 Gustavus Adolphus College – that were ranked in the preseason top 25 this fall. St. Olaf will open its season at home against Pacific Lutheran University on Friday, Aug. 29 at 1 p.m.
