Cross country teams stay in top 20 nationally ahead of home invite

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The St. Olaf College men's and women's cross country teams both remained ranked in the top 20 of this week's NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Cross Country National Coaches' Polls, as released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday.

The St. Olaf men's team slid one spot to No. 7 but stayed in the top 10 for the fifth consecutive poll, while the women dipped three spots to No. 20 but remained in the top 20 for the 14th consecutive poll. The men did not compete last week, while the women were sixth – without running their top contingent of runners – at the Hamline Invitational.

Head coach Brian Power's men's program has now been ranked in 58 consecutive USTFCCCA national polls dating back to early in the 2018 season, while head coach Erica Maker's women's program has been ranked in 40 polls in a row going back to late in the 2019 campaign. The Ole men were the lone Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) team in this week's national poll, while the women were one of two, along with No. 16-ranked Carleton College.

Both teams host the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 20 with the men's 8K at 10 a.m. and the women's 6K at 11 a.m.
