NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The seventh-ranked St. Olaf College men's cross country team was the runner-up to top-ranked UW-La Crosse at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday morning at the St. Olaf Cross Country Course.
Led by a runner-up finish from senior
Kevin Turlington, St. Olaf compiled 71 points in the team standings to edge UW-Eau Claire by seven points for the second spot behind the reigning NCAA Division III national champions. UW-La Crosse won the meet by 39 points with a total of 32 points.
Turlington was the second-place finisher in 24:48.1, trailing Augsburg University's Mohammed Bati by just over five seconds. No other runner was within 30 seconds of Turlington, as the third-place finisher crossed the line in 25:21.1.
Senior
Jack Deaver was the No. 2 finisher for St. Olaf in eighth place (25:45.8), followed by senior
Eli Doran in 18th (25:59.7).
Parker Max – another senior – joined his three classmates in the top 25 with a 21st-place performance (26:03.0), while senior
Gael Manzur Strandlund completed the Oles' five scorers in 39th (26:27.8).
St. Olaf will be back in action at the Blugold Invitational on Friday, Oct. 3 at 4:15 p.m. in Colfax, Wis.
