GREENWOOD, Ind. – Recent St. Olaf College men's cross country and track and field standout
Kevin Turlington '26 was named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Third Team Academic All-American on Tuesday.
After graduating in May with a 3.91 cumulative grade-point average with majors in economics and philosophy, Turlington was one of 45 NCAA Division III student-athletes from across the country to earn CSC Academic All-America honors, which honor the top student-athletes in the country for their academic and athletic accomplishments. Tuesday's announcement made him the third St. Olaf men's cross country/track and field student-athlete to earn four Academic All-America ®accolades.
The Academic All-America ® teams were voted on by CSC members from a pool of Academic All-District ® honorees. To qualify for the two accolades, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50, and meet sport-specific criteria. For track and field and cross country, student-athletes must have finished in the top 50 at their cross country regional or be ranked in the top 50 in the region in an individual event (indoor or outdoor).
In 2025-26, Turlington closed out his decorated career with three All-America accolades, two in outdoor track and field and one in cross country. He secured First Team All-America honors with a third-place finish in the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships before adding second-team honors in the 5,000-meter run with a 13th-place performance a day later. Earlier in the year, he placed 12th at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships and qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in the 5,000-meter run (DNF – flu).
Also this year, Turlington won Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) indoor titles in the 3,000-meter run and 5,000-meter run, as well as an outdoor title in the 10,000-meter run. He was also the MIAC runner-up in cross country and in the outdoor 5,000-meter run as part of a year when he earned five All-MIAC accolades.
For his career, Turlington was a six-time All-American overall, with three of those coming in outdoor track, two in cross country, and one in indoor track. He also collected 11 All-MIAC accolades over the course of his career, three in cross country and eight on the track, while qualifying for the national meet in track and field five times and running on the national stage in cross country in three of his four seasons.
Academically, Turlington was a three-time Academic All-MIAC honoree in both cross country and track and field, earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors in each sport three times, was a three-time CSC Academic All-District ® honoree, and made the Dean's List in all eight semesters.
