BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – First year
Erin Schauer of the St. Olaf College women's basketball team was selected as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Schauer became the first first year to earn one of the two MIAC Athlete of the Week accolades in women's basketball this season after averaging 21.5 points per game in St. Olaf's two games last week. Monday's announcement made Schauer the first Ole to be named the Offensive Player of the Week this season.
Last week, Shauer averaged 21.5 points per game while shooting 45.2 percent (14-for-31) from the field, 42.9 percent (6-for-14) from three-point range, and 81.8 percent (9-for-11) from the free-throw line. The first year exploded for 29 points – the most by an Ole in over six years – in Saturday's four-point loss at Carleton College, with 24 of her 29 points coming after halftime.
St. Olaf will visit Gustavus Adolphus College for a 7 p.m. start on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
