COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Senior
Johanna Glaaser was the runner-up in the 400 meters to help the St. Olaf College women's track and field sit in second place after the second day of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at Donald McNeely Spectrum.
Glaaser earned St. Olaf's top finish of the day by placing second in the 400 with a time of 58.05 seconds, trailing only Bethel's Delia Labatt, who set a new facility record with a time of 57.29 seconds. Glaaser was the runner-up in the event for the second-straight year.
As a team, the Oles finished the day second of 12 teams with 53 points, one point ahead of third-place Bethel. St. Thomas sits atop the team standings with 100 points.
Sophomore
Ellen Mickelson earned the first All-MIAC honor of her track and field career by placing third in the mile (5:05.55). Mickelson's time was a personal best by over 12 seconds and ranks eighth on St. Olaf's all-time list in the event.
A day after winning her second-straight conference title in the pentathlon, senior
Mackenzie Schoustra took fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.53 meters (5' ¼") on her final jump. Classmate
Emily Bohlig also scored in the event by finishing in a three-way tie for seventh (1.48m, 4' 10 ¾").
First years
Annika Muller and
Rebekah Salfer added fifth-place performances, Muller in the long jump (5.14m, 16' 10 ½") and Salfer in the 60-meter hurdles (9.37).
Senior
Lisa Fisher scored in the mile with a PR of 5:16.85 and ran on the eighth-place distance medley relay (13:07.20) along with junior
Katie Elstad, first year
Riley Mauzer and senior
Meredith Moore.
The meet concludes on Saturday, Feb. 29 with field events starting at noon and track events at 1 p.m.
