Sydney Monge shot a team-best 79 (+7) for the St. Olaf College women's golf team, as the Oles sit eighth in the eight-team standings after the opening day of the 2020-21 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Golf Championships held on Friday at Emerald Greens Golf Course.
Monge had two birdies during her 38 (+2) on the front nine and finished the round in a tie for 12th on the leaderboard. Classmate
Bergen Senf also recorded a pair of birdies and is one shot behind Monge after an opening-round 80 (+8).
As a team, St. Olaf shot a 340 (+52) and is seven shots behind seventh-place Macalester. Senior
Danielle Palmen carded nothing worse than a bogey during her first-round 82 (+10) and is tied for 24th overall.
St. Olaf tees off at 11:10 a.m. in the second of three rounds on Saturday, May 1.
