BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Four St. Olaf College student-athletes were honored as one of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Athletes of the Week in their respective sports on Monday afternoon.
Junior
Jacob Halek was picked as the MIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week for the first time after recording a career-high 11 tackles (nine solo) and an interception in St. Olaf's 26-7 loss at undefeated Carleton College on Saturday. The junior picked off a pass with the Knights in St. Olaf territory in the opening quarter for his fifth-straight game with an interception to begin the season. His 11 tackles were five more than his previous career-high total.
Senior
Selena Rodriguez collected the fifth MIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week accolade of her career and her second of the season. The senior reached the 1,000-dig milestone for her career as part of a week that saw her record 67 digs (5.15 per set) in St. Olaf's 2-1 week. Rodriguez registered a career-high 34 digs in a four-set win over No. 4 Northwestern on Wednesday night and had 24 more in a five-set loss to No. 22 Gustavus on Saturday. On Saturday, she became the 17th Ole in recorded program history to reach the 1,000-dig landmark.

Casey McCloskey earned MIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors for the first conference weekly accolade of his career after registering two goals and three assists to help lead St. Olaf to wins over two of the top teams in the region, including one nationally-ranked opponent. The junior recorded a goal and an assist in the Oles' 3-0 win over No. 23 UW-Eau Claire on Thursday before matching his career high with four points on a goal and two assists in a 3-1 victory against Saint John's on Sunday.
