NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Coming off the program's first-ever win in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Playoffs, the ninth-seeded St. Olaf College women's basketball team will take on top-seeded Augsburg University in the quarterfinals of the tournament on Wednesday evening in Minneapolis.

St. Olaf (9-17) scored the final 11 points of the game to grab a 62-57 road win over eighth-seeded Saint Mary's on Saturday afternoon in Winona for the program's first-ever victory in the MIAC Playoffs. The reward is a matchup against the top-seeded Auggies at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at Si Melby Hall.

Fans are permitted to attend the game but must be properly masked per MIAC policy. Tickets are $10 for adults and $2 for students. Children five and younger are free. No senior discount is available. The winner of Wednesday's quarterfinal will advance to the semifinals to take on either fourth-seeded Hamline or fifth-seeded Saint Ben's, who meet at 7 p.m. in St. Paul. The other two quarterfinals feature seventh-seeded Concordia at second-seeded Gustavus (5:45 p.m.) and sixth-seeded Carleton at third-seeded Bethel (7 p.m.).

In Saturday's first-round game in Winona, the Oles trailed 57-51 with 2:57 to go before scoring the game's final 11 points to advance to the quarterfinals. Junior Rachel Kelly started the run with a three-pointer and senior K'Lynn Lewis hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 1:35 remaining to give St. Olaf a 59-57 lead. Kelly hit a pair of free throws to help seal the win with 22 seconds left and the Cardinals missed their final eight shots of the game.

Lewis led all scorers with her second-straight 24-point performance, going 7-for-15 from the field and 8-for-10 at the free-throw line in the win. Kelly added 17 points and eight rebounds and was named the MIAC Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the third time this season on Monday.

Augsburg won its first-ever MIAC regular-season championship by going 19-2 in conference play and enters the quarterfinals with a 19-5 overall record this season. The Auggies received two votes in this week's D3hoops.com Top 25, marking the ninth-straight week that Augsburg has collected votes in the national poll.

The Auggies won both regular-season meetings between the two teams, using a 16-0 first-quarter run to take a 23-7 lead after 10 minutes on their way to a 71-52 win in the first meeting in Northfield on Dec. 11. The Oles got 12 points off the bench from first-year Paige Yagodinski in the meeting in Minneapolis on Feb. 5, but Augsburg had three scorers in double figures in a 58-42 win.

Wednesday night's game is the first-ever meeting between the Oles and Auggies in the MIAC Playoffs. St. Olaf is in the field for the fourth time in program history and is 1-3 in the tournament, while Augsburg is appearing for the eighth time and is 3-4 all-time in the tournament. The Auggies were the runner-up to St. Thomas in each of the last two editions of the MIAC Playoffs (2019, 2020).
