ST. PAUL, Minn. – Junior
Logan Bocovich ran the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's fastest time in the 5,000-meter run while posting a top-15 time in the country in the event, as the St. Olaf College men's track and field team competed at the unscored Tomcat Twilight on Wednesday at O'Shaughnessy Stadium.
Bocovich paced the 25-runner field in the 5,000-meter run by winning the event in 14:34.08, which leads the MIAC, ranks 15th nationally, and sits fifth on St. Olaf's all-time list in the event. The junior's finish was the lone event win of the day for the Oles in a meet that included 20 colleges and universities from all three divisions of the NCAA.
In addition to Bocovich's event win, St. Olaf had three runner-up finishes in the meet, including one from first year
Dylan Arnold in the pole vault, as Arnold cleared 4.60 meters (15' 1") to post the top clearance in the MIAC this season. The clearance also moved the first year up from 10th to seventh in program history in the event and ranks 21st nationally.
Juniors
Lucas Kramarczuk and
Sean Souksavath also logged second-place finishes for the Oles. Kramarczuk was the runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles and his time of 14.85 seconds is second in the MIAC and 16th in NCAA Division III this season. Souksavath was second in the triple jump with a mark of 12.91 meters (42' 4 ¼").
Sophomore
Will Kelly had St. Olaf's lone third-place finish of the meet, recording the fourth-fastest time in the MIAC this season by clocking in at 14:43.14, which also ranks 10th on St. Olaf's all-time list.
In just his second meet since joining the team for the outdoor season, senior
Gabe Alada registered the MIAC's second-best mark in the long jump this season with a jump of 6.68 meters (21' 11"). The mark was the best among NCAA Division III competitors at the meet.
Senior
Luke Malek ran a personal-best time of 1:58.32 to finish fifth in the 800-meter run and now ranks fourth in the conference in the event this spring.
Three other Oles posted top-five performances in the MIAC this season. First year
Trevor Christensen moved into ninth on St. Olaf's all-time list in the discus throw and sits fifth in the conference in the event after posting a mark of 44.54 meters (146' 1").
Sophomore
Demetri Lord and senior
Aengus White recorded the fourth-best results in the conference in the 110-meter hurdles (15.42) and shot put (13.70m, 44' 11 ½"), respectively.
