NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The St. Olaf College men's track and field team's throwers recorded three top-five throws in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this season in the Ole Open on Saturday at Manitou Track.
First year
Cade Feist and junior
Andrew Mollison logged top-five throws in the shot put and senior
Aengus White added one in the discus throw to lead the way for St. Olaf in its final tune-up before next week's MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The meet was also the final home meet for the team's seniors, who were recognized following the meet.
White posted the MIAC's second-best throw in the discus throw, winning the event with a toss of 47.18 meters. The throw also moved the senior up from fourth to third on St. Olaf's all-time list in the event and ranks 38th in the country this season.
Feist and Mollison went 1-3 in the shot put for the Oles with the third and fifth-best throws in the conference this season. Feist bettered his eighth-best standing in program history by winning the event with a mark of 15.02 meters, while Mollison was third at 14.36 meters.
White and Feist's event victories were among nine first-place finishes in the meet for St. Olaf. On the track, the Oles got wins from sophomore
Mauricio Vite in the 3,000-meter run (9:21.61), sophomore
Matthew Nissen in the 110-meter hurdles (16.28), first year
Tyler Gunderson in the 400-meter hurdles (59.54), and first year
Waylon Kurts in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:58.48).
Other event victories came from first year
Dylan Arnold in the pole vault (4.58m), senior
Gabe Alada in the long jump (6.65m), and junior
Sean Souksavath in the triple jump (12.99m).
The 2022 MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held on Friday and Saturday, May 13-14 at Saint Mary's University in Winona.
