LAKE ELMO, Minn. – Senior
Bergen Senf posted the low round of the day to help the St. Olaf College women's golf team to sixth place on the first day of the 2023 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Golf Championships on Saturday at The Royal Golf Club.
Senf shot her lowest round of the season with a two-over 74 to take a one-shot lead over Carter Sichol of Carleton College and Grace Petzold of St. Catherine University through 18 holes of the 54-hole event. As a team, St. Olaf shot a 332 (+44) to sit sixth in the 10-team standings, although the Oles are just six shots out of third place.
In the opening round of her final MIAC Championships, Senf had a tournament-high four birdies on her card and was one-under par through 14 holes before a triple bogey on the par-four 15th. The senior recovered from the triple bogey by playing the final three holes in even par to cement the day-one lead.

Sydney Monge posted St. Olaf's second-best round of the day with an 81 (+9) highlighted by a birdie on the par-five 17th. Junior
Kadyn Triebenbach was four shots behind Monge in a tie for 24th after shooting an 85 (+13). First year
Marit Lyle added the team's final counting score with a 92 (+20).
Day two of the tournament begins at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8. Sophomore
Belle Mae Williams will be the first off the tee for the Oles at 11:33 a.m.
