BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Senior defensive back
Deonta Thomas of the St. Olaf College football team was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Thomas earned the first MIAC Athlete of the Week accolade of his career after registering the first two-interception game of his collegiate career in St. Olaf 28-7 victory at Hamline on Saturday. Thomas' first interception led to the Oles' second touchdown of the opening quarter and his second came at his own 16-yard line in the fourth quarter.
The senior's play also helped St. Olaf limit Hamline standout wide receiver Charlie Wilson, who ranks in the top 10 nationally in receptions per game, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns, to three catches for 37 yards in the game.
The Oles finished the season 5-5 overall and 4-4 in conference play.
