NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The No. 16-ranked St. Olaf College women's cross country team finished fourth – second among NCAA Division III programs – at the Running of the Cows on Saturday morning at Carleton College's Bill Huyck Championship Course.
Despite running without two of its top runners in seniors
Alison Bode and
Sofia Carlson, St. Olaf placed fourth in the 22-team field with 90 points, trailing No. 12-ranked Carleton 56), the University of Minnesota-Duluth (74), and Minnesota State University (77). All five of the Oles' scorers, which were four juniors and a first year, finished in the top 30 out of 296 runners.
Junior
Lauren Walda recorded her second fifth-place finish in as many six-kilometer races this season in 22:17.4 to lead the way for St. Olaf. Classmate
Grace Moeller was the second Ole to finish, doing so in 22:51.6 to place 13th, while fellow junior
Isabel Wyatt was 20th overall in a personal-best 6K time of 23:17.6.
First year
Abi Lindquist knocked nearly 90 seconds off her time from the St. Olaf Invitational by crossing the line in 25th in 23:23.5, which was her best six-kilometer time to date. Junior
Ella Landis posted a 27th-place performance in 23:26.6 to close out St. Olaf's five counting scores.
After an off weekend, the Oles will split their team between the Tori Neubauer Invitational and the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19.
