SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The No. 29-ranked St. Olaf College women's cross country team finished 29th in the 32-team field at the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning at Roger Milliken Center.
Senior
Lauren Walda narrowly missed out an All-America honors, finishing three spots and 2.5 seconds out of the top 40 to lead the way for St. Olaf. As a team, the Oles compiled 705 points in the team standings to sit between No. 31-ranked Bowdoin College and No. 30-ranked Suffolk University in the team standings.
Walda posted the top national finish of her career in her fourth consecutive appearance at the national meet, finishing 43rd (22:05.1). Prior to this year, Walda's top finish was 68th one year ago as a junior.
Competing in the national meet for the first time, sophomores
Abi Lindquist and
Louisa Lamarre turned in the Oles' second and third-fastest times of the day. Lindquist logged a 172nd-place finish (23:18.5), with Lamarre in 223rd (23:45.4). Seniors
Ella Landis (255th, 24:19.7) and
Molly Kate McCloskey (266th, 24:28.0) accounted for St. Olaf's final two counting scores.
Seniors
Isabel Wyatt (270th, 24:36.3) and
Grace Moeller (274th, 24:51.8) also closed out their collegiate cross country careers on the national stage.
