ST. PAUL, Minn. – Eight members of the St. Olaf men's and women's track and field teams competed in throwing events at the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational on Thursday and Saturday at Macalester Stadium.
First year
Elise Harriman and senior
Peyton Irsfeld recorded marks in the discus throw and hammer throw, respectively, that ranked on St. Olaf's all-time top-10 list to lead the performances of the eight Oles over the split two-day meet.
Harriman moved into 10th on St. Olaf's list in the discus throw with a fifth-place effort of 37.90 meters (124' 4"), while first year
Otelia Lighthill and sophomore
Aries Mendez were also in the top 10. Lighthill was ninth at 34.75 meters (114' 0") and Mendez was 10th at 34.63 meters (113' 7"), as all five Oles in the event finished in the top 13.
In the hammer throw, Irsfeld moved up to fourth on St. Olaf's list after a ninth-place throw of 42.73 meters (140' 2"). Lighthill and fellow first year
Graycee Roubinek both posted PRs in the event as well, finishing 20th (37.32m, 122' 5") and 22nd (35.58m, 116' 9"), respectively.
Sophomores
Will Kuntner and
Max Thomas both established personal-best throws in the javelin throw for the St. Olaf men. Kuntner surpassed his previous PR by nearly four meters and placed fifth (47.38m, 115' 5"), while Thomas finished seventh (45.42m, 149' 0"). First year Esosa Odo-Ohonba competed in both the shot put and discus throw, with his top finish coming in the shot put with an 11th-place performance (11.28m, 37' ¼").
Both St. Olaf teams will head to the Tommie Twilight at the University of St. Thomas' O'Shaughnessy Stadium on Wednesday, May 1.
