ST. CLOUD/SARTELL, Minn. – Sophomore
Quinn Nevell recorded the first top-10 finish of his collegiate career, as the St. Olaf College men's golf team placed seventh at the Saint John's Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at St. Cloud Country Club and Blackberry Ridge Golf Club.
Competing as an individual, Nevell tied for ninth in the field of 78 with a 36-hole total of 148 (+4) with rounds of 73 (+1) and 75 (+3) after tying for the tournament lead with nine birdies over the two rounds. As a team, the Oles took seventh of 13 teams with a score of 607 (+31) that included an opening-round 301 (+13), which was the team's second-lowest round of the fall.
After carding five birdies on Saturday in St. Cloud, Nevell recorded four more birdies on Sunday – all on the back nine – to move up three spots and crack the top 10 for the first time. Nevell's first-round 73 matched the low round of his collegiate career.
