NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Led by three top-10 individual finishes, the No. 12-ranked St. Olaf College women's cross country team was the runner-up at the 53rd St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday morning at the St. Olaf Cross Country Course.
Senior
Alison Bode, junior
Lauren Walda, and junior
Grace Moeller were all in the top 10 for St. Olaf, which was second in the 22-team standings with 54 points. Reigning national champion and No. 15-ranked Carleton College had three of the top-four finishers on its way to winning the team title with 35 points.
Bode was the first Ole to cross the finish line, doing so in third place in 22:16.40 to trail only Hannah Preisser and Sophie McManus of Carleton among the 282 finishers. Walda made it a Northfield sweep of the top-five spots by placing fifth (22:42.00), while Moeller also cracked the top 10 in 10th (23:28.20).
Junior
Ella Landis was a fourth Ole in the top 15 overall in 15th (23:49.80), while junior
Isabel Wyatt rounded out the Oles' five scorers in 21st (24:09.60), just ahead of classmate
Molly Kate McCloskey (24:12.10). St. Olaf had 11 of the top-41 finishers overall in the meet.
The Oles will be back in action at the Running of the Cows at Carleton College on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 10 a.m.
