BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Senior
Alison Bode of the No. 14-ranked St. Olaf College women's cross country team was selected as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
Bode collected her first MIAC Athlete of the Week accolade of her career after winning the Ole 5K Opener on Friday evening to start the season. Tuesday's announcement made Bode the first St. Olaf student-athlete to be named the MIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week since Bryony Hawgood '20 on Oct. 8, 2019.
At Friday's Ole 5K Opener, Bode finished nearly 17 seconds ahead of the rest of the field with a time of 19:02.9 to lead St. Olaf to the team title. The two-time track and field All-American's performance helped the Oles finish 19 points ahead of the second-place team at the season-opening meet.
St. Olaf will host its Alumni 5K Meet on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. before returning to competition at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 10 a.m.
