DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Olaf College men's and women's alpine skiing teams were in action in three slalom races at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Mid-Am Atmore event at Spirit Mountain Friday through Sunday.
Four members of St. Olaf's men's team and six from the women's team competed at the three-day competition, highlighted by a pair of top-10 performances from senior
Graham Barwick. Barwick was in the top 12 on each of the three days, finishing seventh (1:36.20), 12th (1:43.57), and ninth (1:38.05), respectively.
First year
Austin Mjanger and junior
Wyatt Shultz also combined for three top-20 finishes for the Ole men. Shultz took 20th (1:39.18) on Friday, while Mjanger was 17th (1:45.27) and 19th (1:41.31) on Saturday and Sunday.
Senior
Kate Young registered top-25 finishes in both of her races on the weekend, taking 22nd (1:40.67) on Saturday and 18th (1:41.82) on Sunday. Junior
Winter Johnson was also in the top 30 on both of those days by placing 29th (1:41.97) and 28th (1:44.45).
St. Olaf will return to U.S. Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) competition at Mt. La Crosse on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 18-19.
