Jackson Reents and
Tate Wilker recorded two podium finishes apiece as the St. Olaf College men's and women's alpine skiing teams raced in the annual Tengdin Memorial Race on Saturday and Sunday at Buck Hill.
Reents and Wilker finished 1-2 in the slalom on Sunday and 2-3 in the slalom on Saturday to highlight a weekend that included eight top-10 individual finishes for St. Olaf.
On Saturday, Reents was the men's runner-up (1:04.36) over the three runs, sitting second after the first run before taking the lead with the joint-fastest second run and winding up second. Wilker took third (1:04.92), moving up from sixth to fourth during the second run and one more spot in the final run. Sophomore
Austin Mjanger made it three Oles in the top 10 in 10th (1:05.83).
Junior
Elanore Robb and first year
Ellie Mathe both placed in the top 10 in Saturday's women's slalom, with Robb taking eighth (1:13.87) and Mathe ninth (1:15.24). First year
Eloise Backer was also in the top 15 in 15th (1:15.81).
Reents won the men's slalom on Sunday in 1:06.29, which was nine one-hundredths of a second ahead of Wilker. After Reents took the lead on the first run, Wilker grabbed it after run two before Reents leapfrogged his teammate on the final run. Senior
Jessica Stanton and Robb placed ninth (1:13.21) and 11th (1:13.78), respectively, in the women's slalom on Sunday.
Both teams will travel to Gaylord, Mich. for U.S. Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) competition at Otsego Club on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 10-11.
