LA CROSSE, Wis. – The St. Olaf College men's and women's alpine skiing teams were in action in a pair of International Ski Federation (FIS) slalom races at Mt. La Crosse on Saturday and Sunday.
Senior
Graham Barwick won the men's slalom on Sunday and was fourth on Saturday for the men, while junior
Jessica Stanton was fifth on Sunday for the women. The two teams combined for 10 top-20 performances over the two days of racing.
After placing fourth (1:31.99) on Saturday, Barwick led the field with a time of 1:25.49 over his two runs to finish atop the podium. Junior
Wyatt Shultz logged top-15 showings on both days, taking 13th (1:36.48) on Saturday and 12th (1:30.34) on Sunday.
Stanton and senior
Kate Young were both in the top 10 on Sunday, with Stanton in fifth (1:35.03) and Young in 10th (1:37.70). In addition to the two top-10 performances, senior
Lexi Jorgensen placed 16th (1:41.70) on day two. On Saturday, junior
Winter Johnson (1:41.86), Stanton (1:42.16), and Young (1:42.40) were separated by a little more than half a second in 14th, 15th, and 16th, respectively.
St. Olaf will travel to Spirit Mountain in Duluth for the second time this winter for U.S. Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) action on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 1-2.
