No. 21 men's cross country aims for another MIAC title on Saturday

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The No. 21-ranked St. Olaf College men's cross country team will aim to extend its run of Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) team titles when it heads to St. Paul for the MIAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday.

Winners of each of the last three MIAC titles, St. Olaf will aim to make it four when the men's eight-kilometer race gets under way at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Highland Golf Couse. The Oles will enter the 11-team meet as the lone team in the conference ranked in the most recent NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Cross Country National Coaches' Polls, as released on Oct. 22.

There is no admission fee to attend the MIAC Cross Country Championships and live results will provided by Wayzata Results. Parking is available on both sides of Montreal Avenue, Edgecumbe Road, and the neighborhoods around the golf courses. Bicycles and non-service animals are strictly prohibited at the course.

A senior-laden St. Olaf team will be in search of its 13th MIAC team title, previously winning the conference crown in 1938, 1976, 2004, 2008, 2012-16, and 2022-24. The 12 MIAC titles are the second-highest total of any current member of the conference behind Saint John's University's 15.

Last season, the Oles three-peated as team champions with the largest margin of victory in conference history (73 points) after posting a team score of 23, the lowest by a team champion since St. Olaf's total of 16 in 2014. The Oles used a 2-3-4-5-9 finish from their top five and had six All-MIAC performances (top 15) and four more honorable-mention performances (spots 16-25).

Senior Kevin Turlington leads St. Olaf's entries as a two-time All-MIAC performer after placing second in 2024 and sixth in 2023. Turlington has placed in the top four in all four of his races this season, including a third-place finish at the Connecticut College Invitational on Oct. 18.

The Oles have four other entries who have earned at least one All-MIAC accolade during their careers. Seniors Jack Deaver (fourth), Gael Manzur Strandlund (fifth), Ignatius Fitzgerald (ninth), and Parker Max (13th) were all in the top 15 last season, while junior Alex Bjork was 24th to secure Honorable Mention All-MIAC honors.
