MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Junior
Isabel Wyatt of the St. Olaf College women's track and field team finished second in the 800-meter run with a top-five national time on Friday at the Showshoe Open at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse.
Wyatt clocked in at 2:12.03 to finish second to Savannah Schley of the University of Minnesota-Duluth and drew closer to the school record of 2:11.81 set by Megan (Daymont) Thomas '03 in 2003. The junior's time ranks fifth in NCAA Division III this indoor season and bettered Wyatt's second-best time in St. Olaf's all-time list.
Wyatt's previous top indoor time in the event was 2:13.46 from the Ole Opener on Jan. 18. As of Friday evening, no other runner in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) has run a time faster than 2:18.98 in the event this season.
After the rest of the team competes at the Tostrud Classic on Friday night, the Oles will head to Saint John's University for the MIAC Indoor Championships held Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 27 – March 1.
