BEND, Ore. – In its first event at the U.S. Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) National Championships, the St. Olaf College men's alpine skiing team finished 15th of 27 teams in the giant slalom on Wednesday at Mt. Bachelor.
Senior
Graham Barwick narrowly missed out on All-America honors (top 15) with a team-best 16th-place finish (2:09.24) but was one of just two Oles to complete the two runs. As a team, St. Olaf compiled a team time of 7:43.06 to finish near the middle of the team standings.
Barwick was in 16th place after the first run (1:03.89) and held onto that spot after recording the 21st-fastest second run (1:05.35). Junior
Wyatt Shultz was in 66th after the first run (1:11.71) before jumping up to 45th (2:22.14) in the second run.
Due to the forecast for two feet of snowfall later in the week, both the men's and women's slalom races will be held on Thursday, March 13.
