Starcevich honored with MIAC Elite 22 Award

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Junior Nick Starcevich of the St. Olaf College men's swimming and diving team earned the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Elite 22 Award, as announced on Thursday afternoon.

Starcevich became the second Ole to land the award in men's swimming and diving since the accolade began in 2013-14, joining John Loepfe '20 in 2018-19. The MIAC Elite 22 Award recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in their sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.

Nominees for the annual award must be at least a junior in academic and athletic standing and must be in at least their second year of competition (in any sport) at their current institution. For individual sports, nominees must be recognized as all-conference honorees.

A junior mathematics major, Starcevich holds a 4.0 cumulative GPA and earned four All-MIAC and one Honorable Mention All-MIAC accolade at the MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships last month. The junior claimed All-MIAC honors with second-place performances in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, as well as swimming on the Oles' all-conference 400-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle relays and the honorable-mention 200-yard medley relay.
