Jaeckle, Jore, and McCormick named MIAC Athletes of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Senior Ashlyn Jore and sophomore Izzi Jaeckle of the St. Olaf College women's track and field team and first year Alayna McCormick of the St. Olaf women's swimming and diving team all collected Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Athlete of the Week accolades on Tuesday.

Jaeckle and Jore swept the MIAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards, marking the first time since Jan. 15, 2007 that Oles won both accolades during the same week, while McCormick was named the MIAC Women's Diver of the Week. All three Oles landed the first MIAC Athlete of the Week accolades of their respective careers.

Jaeckle broke St. Olaf's 2017 school record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.07 seconds at the Ole Opener on Saturday and was also part of the Oles' first-place 4x400-meter relay (4:03.05). The sophomore's time in the 200 is the fastest in the MIAC this season, while the relay's time ranks 18th in NCAA Division III.

Jore broke St. Olaf's four-decades-old school record in the long jump with a winning mark of 5.63 meters (18' 5 ¾") at Saturday's Ole Opener. That mark is currently the best in the MIAC this season and ranks eighth in NCAA Division III. Jore was also just one one-hundredth of a second off the program's 60-meter record with a first-place time of 8.04 seconds in the finals.

McCormick broke St. Olaf's 27-year-old three-meter school record with a score of 464.45 points in the Oles' 163-136 dual victory at Macalester on Saturday. The first year won both boards and qualified for regionals in both events, winning the three-meter event by nearly 40 points and the one-meter board by nearly 30 with a score of 437.35.
