NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Sophomore
Izzi Jaeckle broke her own school record in the 200-meter dash and ran on the St. Olaf College women's track and field team's record-breaking 4x200-meter relay at the St. Olaf Invitational & Multi held on Friday and Saturday at Tostrud Center.
For the second time in two weeks, Jaeckle set a new program record in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 25.75 seconds in a second-place finish to shave over three-tenths of a second off her time of 26.07 seconds from the Ole Opener on Jan. 17. The sophomore's time currently ranks No. 2 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this season.
Jaeckle also ran on St. Olaf's first-place 200-meter relay (1:43.97) that broke the program's previous record of 1:45.83 from 2018 by nearly two seconds. The sophomore was joined by first years
Evangeline Sappington,
Eleanor Semple, and
Claire Stein as the relay posted the conference's top time so far this season. As a team, St. Olaf won six events and had five runner-up performances at the unscored meet.
Senior
Isabel Wyatt ran the MIAC's fastest time in the 1,000-meter run this season by winning the event in 2:56.52, which is the fifth-fastest performance on the Oles' all-time list. First year
Cora DenHartog was just behind Wyatt in second (2:56.91) to break onto St. Olaf's all-time performers' list in fifth with the sixth-fastest performance in program history.
Sophomore
Logan Paulsen moved to the top of the MIAC list in the shot put this season with a winning mark of 12.86 meters (42' 2 ¼"), which put Paulsen fourth on the Oles' performers' list and was eighth on the performances list. Paulsen was also fifth in the weight throw (15.42m, 50' 7 ¼") for the No. throw on St. Olaf's performers' list.
Senior
Abbie Manhard won the 800-meter run in 2:24.73, while classmate
Ashlyn Jore had the top jump of the day in the long jump at 5.40 meters (17' 8 ¾"). First years
Svea Frantzich and
Claire Stein were also in the top four in the long jump with marks of 5.25 meters and 5.10 meters, respectively.
DenHartog and Wyatt made up half of St. Olaf's first-place 4x400-meter relay (4:08.10), with juniors
Molly DiNardo and
Nora Mickelson making up the other two legs. Senior
Lauren Walda added a second-place performance in the 5,000-meter run (17:37.64) for the No. 2 time in the conference this season.
First year
Abby Frei was the runner-up in the pole vault with a personal-best clearance of 3.40 meters (11' 1 ¾") that is the top clearance in the MIAC this season and put Frei fourth on the Oles' performers' list. Sappington also posted a top-four time on both St. Olaf lists in a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter dash (8.05), while Frantzich was just behind with top-five all-time results in 8.06 seconds in the prelims.
On Friday, Stein and Frantzich finished third and fourth, respectively, in the pentathlon with top-10 scores in program history. Stein won the high jump with a personal-best clearance of 1.53 meters (5' ¼") and finished with 3,099 points for the No. 8 total in program history. Frantzich was 33 points behind Stein with 3,066 while posting personal-best results in the high jump (1.50m, 4' 11"), shot put (8.86m, 29' 1"), and 800-meter run (2:40.09). Stein and Frantzich's totals both rank in the top 25 in NCAA Division III this season.
St. Olaf will head to the University of Minnesota for the Gopher Classic on Saturday, Feb. 7.
