NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Senior
Ashlyn Jore broke the program record in the long jump as the St. Olaf College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Carleton Relays on Sunday at Laird Stadium.
Jore broke a 43-year-old record in the long jump with a mark of 5.60 meters (18' 4/1"2), narrowly surpassing the previous mark of 5.58 meters set by Jo Arveson in 1983. Jore's performance was one of seven event wins and19 top-three finishes for the Oles at the unscored meet.
Juniors
Molly DiNardo and
Nora Mickelson were the top-two finishers in the 400-meter dash, with DiNardo edging Mickelson at the line by one one-hundredth of a second in 1:00.81. First years
Eleanor Semple and
Mae Robinson went 1-2 in the 400-meter hurdles, with Semple clocking in at 1:09.06 and Robinson at 1:12.70.
Senior
Abbie Manhard logged the top time of the day in the 800-meter run (2:23.73) and was joined in the top three by sophomore
Louisa Lamarre in third (2:26.66).
In the field events, first year
Olivia Hankins was second in the triple jump (9.96m, 32' 8 ¼"), while first year
Abby Frei and sophomore
Erika Nesseth both cleared 3.13 meters (10' 3 ¼") to finish second and third, respectively, in the pole vault.
Junior
Max Albertson recorded the No. 2 mark in the long jump in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this season with a winning jump of 6.90 meters (22' 7 ¾"). Junior
Esosa Edo-Ohonba and senior
Max Thomas registered runner-up finishes and personal-best results in the discus throw (41.02m, 134' 7") and javelin throw (50.03m, 164' 2"), respectively.
First year
Tony Ali won the 100-meter dash (11.30) and was second in the 200-meter dash (22.62), while classmate
Abe Polzien was third in both events with times of 11.39 seconds and 22.69 seconds. Sophomore
Cristian Escobar Pearson added a win in the 400-meter hurdles (57.43).
St. Olaf will next be in action at the Gary Wilson Invitational at the University of Minnesota on Wednesday, April 22.
