NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The St. Olaf College women's track and field team posted 17 top-three finishes at the Ole Outdoor Open in its final meet before hosting the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday afternoon at Manitou Track.
St. Olaf recorded five first-place finishes and seven second-place performances among the 17 top-three performances at its home facility one week ahead of the conference meet. The Oles also had six performances that landed on the program's all-time performers list.
First year
Evangeline Sappington ran top-10 program times in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash, finishing second in both events with times of 12.43 seconds and 25.96 seconds, respectively. Sappington's time in the 100 made her the No. 2 performer in program history, while her time in the 200 slid her into 10th place. The first year was the runner-up to sophomore
Izzi Jaeckle in the 200, as Jaeckle fell just one one-hundredth of a second shy of her PR in 25.30 seconds.

Eleanor Semple, senior
Ella Landis, and sophomore
Arabella England all added event wins on the track as well. Semple won the 400-meter dash (58.76), Landis was first in the 800-meter run (2:18.20), and England crossed the line first in the 1,500-meter run (4:55.97).

Ashlyn Jore and first year
Svea Frantzich finished first and third, respectively, in the long jump with marks of 5.50 meters (18' ½") and 5.37 meters (17' 7 ½"). Frantzich's jump made her the No. 8 performer in program history in the event.
Junior
Otelia Lighthill provided the highlight of the day in the throws for the Oles with a runner-up finish in the discus throw (41.83m, 137' 3") with a throw that ranks second in the conference this season and fifth in program history. Sophomore
Logan Paulsen was second in the hammer throw (43.58m, 142' 11"), followed by first year
Jai Lara (41.24m, 135' 3"), who broke into seventh on the Oles' performers list.
Semple, Sappington, Jaeckle, and sophomore
Sophie Herweijer were second in the 4x100-meter relay in 49.59 seconds, which stands seventh in program history, while first year
Abby Frei was the runner-up in the pole vault by clearing 3.35 meters (10' 11 ¾").
Day one of the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will begin with field events at 2 p.m. and track events at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8.
